Sustainability
Crafted with care. Driven by change.
Great yarn comes with great responsibility. At Ganga Acrowools, we're working to reduce our environmental footprint. Today, 11% renewable energy and 35% recycled water mark our progress — with more to come

Energy
We are swapping coal for rice straw.
Today, most of the electricity we use is bought from the Punjab state grid (PSPCL), which draws predominantly on thermal generation. We want that to change, and we are building the capacity to change it.
We already have 1,565 kW of installed solar capacity. The larger step is a biomass project to generate electricity, in which we have invested USD 8 million. It will burn waste rice straw in place of coal, and the steam it produces will serve our dye house. We are targeting completion within two years.
Once the plant is running, farmers within a 20 km radius will no longer need to burn rice straw in their fields each November.

Water
Dyeing needs water. We are working to reuse more of it.
Our dye-house expansion is being directed toward Zero Liquid Discharge, an approach in which wastewater is treated and reused rather than released. The effluent treatment plant we run today is 100% biological.
